This website has been created by Kids in Mind: Mater Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS). We help about 1500 people every year and we can help you. And best of all, it won't cost you or your family anything at all.

ECCO

ECCO stands for Early Counselling and Community Outreach.

ECCO is a counselling program for young people aged 12-25 years who have recently experienced difficulty handling their emotions or behaviours.

Indigenous youth
They lsiten to you at CYMHS

Jenny, our Indigenous consultant, and Tim, our Indigenous outreach worker, will stay in touch with you during the time you come to CYMHS.

They know that young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have needs that are different to other young people. Both Jenny and Tim are Indigenous Australians who work in the local Indigenous community. Lots of Murri people call Jenny "Aunty Jenny".

Coming to CYMHS
The staff at CYMHS have been really helpful

We know that coming to a new place for the first time can feel a little strange, so we do everything we can to make you feel welcome.

Coming to a community clinic

We have a waiting room, just like dentists and doctors do - and we have lots of magazines and books.  We do try hard not to keep you waiting.  When you arrive, you will probably have to fill out some forms. If an adult or parent is with you, they will need to do the same. By the way, all CYMHS clinics have a public toilet and a water cooler.

Who is CYMHS

CYMHS is pronounced `KIMS'. It stands for Child and Youth Mental Health Service. Services like ours are located all around Queensland and Australia. We have highly skilled staff who understand young people and the problems they face in everyday life - like stress, depression, anxiety, mood problems, relationship and family problems.
