The Mater CYMHS Service is committed to an ongoing and integrated process of service development. There are two major aspects, ensuring that the current services provided by Mater CYMHS are best practice and evidence based and secondly, identification of gaps in our continuum of care.

Training

Professional development of staff is a key priority for this service.

We encourage everyone to actively pursue development opportunities both organised within the service and from outside institutions.

The Training Committee, established in 1995, comprises senior clinicians and executive members. It meets monthly and examines areas of need, proposals for training and possible external training opportunities.

    Culturally sensitive care is practiced

    An Overview of Indigenous Child and Youth Indigenous Model of Care

    In 2000, the South Brisbane Child and Youth Mental Health Service employed an Indigenous project officer to develop an Indigenous Model of Care for the service. At this point the model took in three components.
