This community section aims to inform you about the referral process, who and how to refer young people and their families.  We explain what we do, where to find us and a bit about our staff.

Indigenous

Jenny, the Indigenous Consultant, and Tim, the Indigenous Outreach Worker, assist agencies, young people and their families in dealing with the mental health issues.

They attempt to stay in touch with young people during their time with us at CYMHS.

Mater Infant Parent Service
Infant

The first two years of life are a very important time of development.  The relationships formed at this time provide a basis for future growth.  These years can also be stressful for parents and children.  Sleeping, feeding, separation and other difficulties are common during this time.

Referral process

To refer a young person contact the community clinic in your catchment area and discuss in as much detail as possible the reasons for referral with the intake person.  Our intake process offers:

  • information about the most appropriate service for your needs
  • consultation and advice about potential referrals
  • initial appointment with a mental health clinician
  • crisis assessment arrangements.

ADAWS
Inside the house ADOLESCENT DRUG AND ALCOHOL WITHDRAWAL SERVICE (ADAWS)

 

ADAWS is a short-term residential withdrawal service for young people aged 13-18 years who are experiencing complex problems in the areas of their physical and emotional health, social welfare and personal safety, as a result of dependence on or misuse of alcohol and/or other drugs.

Mater Parent Aide

MATER PARENT AIDE

AN ACTIVITY OF MATER CHILD AND YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE (Mater CYMHS)

Mater Parent Aide is a home visiting service utilising trained volunteers (Parent Aides) who primarily seek to improve infant-parent relationships.  The program is coordinated by experienced health professionals and has an early intervention and prevention focus.
