CYMHS provides help to young people living in the southern suburbs of Brisbane. We have three community clinics plus three services located at the Mater Hospital complex. All services are accessible by public transport.

Who we see

Consumer Participation

In 1996 the Mater Child and Youth Mental Health Service (also known as CYMHS) began developing a consumer participation strategy.

Initially a pilot program for Consumer/Carer Participation consisting of Consumer groups based at each community clinics (Greenslopes, Yeronga and Inala) was established.

Coming to CYMHS

There is no manual that comes with being a parent and sometimes it's easy to feel stressed or overwhelmed.  Asking for help can be difficult and coming to a new place for the first time can feel awkward, so we do everything we can to make you and your child feel welcome.

Consultation liaison

The Mater Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Consultation-Liaison Team is part of the broader Mater CYMHS and provides specialist mental health services to all areas of the Mater Children’s Hospital.

Indigenous
CYMHS staff listen to you

Jenny, our Indigenous consultant, and Tim, our Indigenous outreach worker, will stay in touch with you during your time with us at CYMHS. They know that young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families have needs that are different to other families. Both Jenny and Tim are Indigenous Australians who work in the local Indigenous community. Lots of Murri people call Jenny "Aunty Jenny"
